A&A Interior Gallery invites you to the opening of the exhibition «Archaeology of Consciousness» by Dasha Delone, Dima Goryachkin / DaDim art duo and Vasilisa Delone.

Just as an archaeologist recovers fragments of a lost civilization, DaDim recovers fragments of the self. Their works act as "mental artifacts"- symbolic objects and images that appear weathered by time, half-erased, or distorted. These pieces challenge the viewer to reconstruct their own personal history from the evocative remnants provided. By peeling back the layers of the mundane, Dasha, Dima and Vasilisa reach for the eternal. "Archaeology of Consciousness" is a meditation on the durability of the spirit against the ruthless erosion of time - a journey to the bedrock of what it means to be human.

Dasha and Dima have been working together for many years as the DaDim art group. Their projects have been exhibited, among other venues, at the State Museum of Oriental Art and at the Vadim Sidur and Mikhail Bulgakov museums in Moscow, at the Mark Rothko Art Centre in Daugavpils, as well as in New York and Thessaloniki.

In their new project, works by DaDim and objects by Vasilisa Delone are brought together around three shared themes: memory, sign and myth. The presence of art within the space of everyday life is the project’s leitmotif.

It is specifically for Archaeology of Consciousness that Dasha and Dima have decided, for the first time, to tell the story of the ancient, now-vanished people of Dadim. In search of traces of their existence, the artists travelled through the Middle East and Greece. Yet the most important discoveries were made much closer to home - in the Balkans and here, in Montenegro.

From the fragments they discovered, the artists gradually managed to reconstruct part of the Dadim alphabet. Some of its signs have already been deciphered. Among them are the symbols of Faith, Hope and Love - of which Love is the most important component. Work on the alphabet continues.

Despite DaDim and Vasilisa Delone’s interest in history, mythology and dragons, this exhibition is about the present. In its works, clay, wood and metal become materials for objects that require no museum-like distance.

The artists believe that, in order to retain their own voice, contemporary art objects do not necessarily have to dominate a space. They can exist alongside furniture, lighting and architecture, without demanding constant attention and without becoming elements of décor. Engagement with them is not exhausted at first glance - the objects call for dialogue and interaction with the viewer, to whom new levels of meaning gradually unfold.

The exhibition will run untill September 23rd 2026, at the A&A Interior Gallery space in Porto Montenegro.

The art duo DaDim (Dasha Delone and Dima Goryachkin) and the artist Vasilisa Delone

The art duo DaDim was founded in 2010 by the artists Dasha Delone and Dima Goryachkin. Since 2020, the pair have lived and worked in Montenegro, creating ceramic objects, sculpture, painting, panels and installations. At the heart of their practice lies an interest in memory, mythology, archaeology and ancient forms that continue to live on within contemporary culture whilst shedding their original meaning. For the artists, clay is a material capable of holding traces - traces of destruction, of time, of human presence and the touch of human hands.

The artists' works take the form of fragments of an invented culture, complete with their own plasticity, symbols and inner mythology, weaving archaic visual languages together with the minimalism of contemporary object-based art. DaDim's objects exist between archaeological artefact, sculpture and site-specific object.

The duo has exhibited in Russia, Latvia, Georgia, Greece, Croatia, Slovenia and the USA. Their work has been shown, among other venues, at the State Museum of Oriental Art (Moscow), the Mark Rothko Art Centre (Daugavpils), the Sidur Museum (Moscow) and the Mikhail Bulgakov Museum (Moscow), as well as at the international art fairs SCOPE Art Show (New York) and Aqua Art Miami. Their pieces are held in both museum and private collections across Russia, Europe and the USA.

Vasilisa Delone works at the crossroads of graphic design, book illustration and ceramics. She graduated from the National Institute of Design (2009) and the Moscow State University of Arts and Industry (Stroganov) (2010), after which she spent many years working in graphic design and art direction, taking part in Moscow's city festivals and creating art installations and layouts for them.

Illustration has long been present in her practice as a way of telling stories directly through images. A recurring thread running through her work is the search for feminine identity, for roots and for the wellspring of vital force; an immersion in the inner world of the fairy tale, where reality sits alongside dream. Through the language of myth and magical narrative, she explores herself, her place and the world around her.
